Dr. Bob's Wyoming Trek Diary
Troop 111, 2001

Introduction

Dr. Bob Klein, SM-111, Arlington, VA, always keeps a detailed diary during his High Adventure Treks. The diary's intended audience are the Scouts and Advisors in his Crew(s), as a permanent record of the events of the trip. Recently, his diaries have been published on the web in an effort to help others interested in undertaking similar treks.

Because our Troop went to Philmont in 2000, we were ineligible to attend the Ranch in 2001. So, instead, we planned an 18-day western adventure in Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, featuring an 8-day, 50+ mile backpacking trek in the Wind River Range in Wyoming - some of the most wild, remote, and beautiful territory in the lower 48 states.

As we did with our 2000 Philmont diary, this year's diary includes hyperlinks to photos of the trek (about 115) throughout the text. Each of these photos pop up in a separate window, so they can be viewed without losing one's place in the text. I hope you enjoy the final product, and that you will consider a trek of your own to the Wind Rivers.

Yours in Scouting, Brad Jones
